In the book, Successful Study: The Essential Skills, By Prashant Shah (which I was able to preview via Google Book Search, here) the point is made that the ingredients of successful study include: Confidence, Intelligence, Drive and … Technique.
Technique is what I am currently working on as I am currently enrolled in classes which are included in my own “resume MBA program” coursework plan. And it is the core purpose of this blog.
Which brings me to some my own tips regarding study skills:
-
Plan, plan, plan.
-
Write down everything!
-
Study a little bit every day (stores the material in the long term memory).
-
Schedule specific time “off” (Shah refers to “blank — or “catch-up days” — as being the answer for unexpected situations, tasks that take longer than expected and — the dreaded distractions!
) -
Have some sort of system of managing your days. Think of this system as a tool — not a weapon! ::mr. green::
-
Create your own sort of “lesson planner” or embellish an ordinary planner in order to enjoy the art of planning.
